From Chris Skellam:-
I RECENTLY received a renewal quote for my car insurance. I accepted the quote and informed the insurance company of my new postcode.
The change from L45 to CH45 resulted in an increased premium. After several calls, finally to their head office, I was able to convince them that the risks of having a car in CH45 were no greater (or less) than in L45, since both codes refer to the same place.
While remaining somewhat unconvinced of my argument, the insurance company conceded that there was no valid reason for charging more, and agreed to charge the lower premium, thereby saving me £13.
The change in postcodes may well be an administrative convenience for the Post Office, but beware of the potential financial 'convenience' for insurance companies.
