A MOTORING survey found almost half of drivers in the North West (41 per cent compared to 49 per cent of people overall in the UK) admit to losing their temper and swearing or gesticulating at other drivers.

The survey by Saga found men in particular (54 per cent) seem to have a greater tendency to lose their temper than women (42 per cent). Yet according to the figures road rage becomes less likely with age, with only 36 per cent of drivers aged 50 and over admitting to feelings of aggression when behind the wheel compared to 56 per cent of those under 50. Worst offenders of all are those who drive for business, with 66 per cent admitting to getting irate with other road users on their way to and from meetings.
