TRANMERE Rovers' already small first team squad could be depleted if Tranmere Rovers Chief Executive and Chairman Lorraine Rogers accepts fellow Division One club Stockport County's undisclosed bid for French star Georges Santos.

The dilemma Tranmere have with Santos is two fold. He is a popular figure among the Tranmere fans with his all action style, but he is out of contract at the end of this season and could leave the Wirral club in the same way he arrived last season - on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling.

Santos' agent has apparently rejected new terms offered to the player by Tranmere and the club may have to listen to Stockport's offer. Santos was 'injured' for the QPR match.

Ms Rogers was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.

There was still no word from Prenton Park officials regarding the future of trialist Gareth Roberts. The former Liverpool reserve left-back has made a big impression at Prenton Park and has been offered terms, but so far there has been no decision by the player.
