From Miss P.Lord:-
REGARDING Wirral's change of postcode from L to CH, I welcomed this with open arms as I understood this meant that officially Wirral could become Cheshire once again.
But despite this change, 'Merseyside' is still being used. Merseyside County Council was abolished in the mid-Eighties, and the new Pears Encyclopaedia lists Merseyside as "former metropolitan county", which means it no longer exists.
Wirral is a Cheshire peninsula - and that is where it should stay, in its rightful county.
