From John Ashington:-
FROM my back window, I watched the old part of St Werburgh's School, Whetstone Lane, being demolished.
I assumed that a 15ft x 10ft figure of the Virgin Mary mounted on one wall would be salvaged, but on a Sunday, of all days, I found that all of the school, and the Virgin Mary, had been flattened.
I was brought up a Catholic and there were always collections for one thing or another; even the poorest would give something. I can't believe the Catholic Church has been so wasteful with such a beautiful object. It's a sin!
