From D. Thomson:-

I WAS feeling a bit depressed this week, so may I pass on my heartfelt thanks to Stuart Brady (Mailbox, October 13), the dedicated primary school teacher who works a six day, 70 hour week, 51 weeks of the year, while spending hundreds of pounds of his own money on resources for his pupils?

His letter really cheered me up. By the time I finished reading it, I couldn't stop laughing.

Was it a brilliant piece of satire, composed by someone who is sick of listening to the biggest bunch of whinges in the land? Or does this saint actually exist?

If he does, may I offer some advice? Leave teaching, for it appears he's out of his depth, or seek the advice of some of his colleagues. They will no doubt inform Mr Brady how it is possible to start work at 8.45am, finish at 3.30pm, enjoy all the school holidays and still teach children.

After all, that is what most of them do.
