WIRRAL District FA Cup holders Ship Inn, of the Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday Football League, crashed out 3-2 to Queens Park (John Lucas 2, Mike Reiley), despite a spirited second-half fightback and scoring two goals. It was all in vain, and Queens proved the better side on the day.

Archers Social won the Eastham derby, defeating arch rivals Kel 3-1. Also safely through to the third round are St Cecilia's (Chris Thompson, Ian Bonner, Ray Fardey), 3-1 victors over Prenton Dell; Westbourne (Ian Sutherland, penalty, Paul Hughes), 2-1 winners over luckless Christies; and Dock, 2-1 victors at Pacific; and Brow (Jason Berry, 2, Mark Brady), who triumphed 4-1 at Shaftesbury FC.

The Premier Division's only game proved a cracker. Jamie Gladwin scored four times for Parkdale, but it was not enough, as Shaftesbury Snrs gained their first point of the season in a 6-6 draw.

In Division Two, Heygarth FC's unbeaten run came to an end when they lost 1-0 to Houlihan's Variety Club (John Rimmer, penalty). DW Fencing's 5-2 win at Graylands moves them to just two points behind leaders Heygarth.

With the top four clubs in Division Four on cup duty, Parkdale Youth closed the gap on the leaders with a 5-3 win at Lord Napier. Youth Division leaders Shore Villa go three points clear after a convincing 7-2 home win over Shaftesbury Youth.Houlihan's.
