A MEMORIAL to Wirral civilians killed in the Blitz of World War II was unveiled on Saturday, ending a six-year fight for recognition.
Tommy Birkett, from Birkenhead, was behind the campaign and is pictured with sons Alan (left) and Tommy Jr (right) at the stone's dedication on Saturday.
The inscription on the stone - next to the Cenotaph in Hamilton Square - reads: "In everlasting memory of the men, women and children who were killed in the Blitz (1939-45). May they all Rest In Peace."
