WIRRAL and West Cheshire Community NHS Trust has earned a second award for its efforts to promote health at work.

Trust Chairman David Eva and representatives from Health Links have been presented with a participation award from Healthstart at Liverpool Town Hall.

The Trust won the Division One award for entering the greatest number of events in the 1999 series of 11 five km runs across the North West.

Wirral and West Cheshire Trust entered 35 teams and Health Links - which is the area's specialist health promotion service - had a team in every one.

The prize follows news last November that the Trust had won an award for doing the most to encourage staff to enter the 1999 NHS Healthstart Lifestyle Festival - a variety of health and fitness events.

Marion Needham, head of human resources, told Globe: "Through the Health at Work group, we actively organise leisure events which involve as many staff as possible and promote team spirit.

"We believe that in order for our staff to be effective in their work, we need to promote the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle."

Mr Eva says: "We are delighted to win a second award which is evidence of our commitment to promoting health at work and encouraging staff to take regular exercise."
