MERSEYSIDE Police are warning businesses to be on their guard when dealing with companies from the former Soviet Union.
The International Crime Unit is investigating a number of complaints made by computer companies throughout Merseyside.
The small businesses have taken large orders for computer equipment from people claiming to own computer retail outlets in the former Soviet Union. The customers then pay by credit cards which have turned out to be stolen.
The complaints are being investigated in conjunction with the National Crime Intelligence Service in London.
