WHEN is the government going to do something about the use of mobile phones while driving a car?

Last year I was involved in three near-misses while driving my car - and each time the other driver was using a mobile.

Already this year my newborn baby and I have just come dangerously close to being side-swiped at a junction by a Wirral Borough Council open-back truck, because again the driver had a mobile phone on his ear.

What annoys me is that it takes about 10 minutes for most journeys around town, and mobiles are fitted with voice mail, and yet people refuse to switch them off while driving.

My own point of view is that it should be looked upon as just as dangerous as drink driving as you are not in full control of your vehicle, and I urge the government to do something about imposing harsher punishment on any person caught in the act.
