UNIBOND Division One leaders Vauxhall Motors suffered a wasted afternoon on Saturday when their league match away at Yorkshire club Guiseley was called off less than an hour before kick-off.
With the rest of the day's programme already frozen off, Motors were surprised to hear that the Guiseley pitch had passed a morning inspection but pleased with news that the game give them the chance to open up a five-point gap over the chasing pack.
However, when they arrived in Guiseley it was immediately obvious that it would be too dangerous for the game to go ahead.
Manager Alvin McDonald says: "It couldn't have been any different at 11am when they had the pitch inspection the game should have been called off then. Instead, we've wasted our time and effort for no good reason."
Attention now switches to this Saturday, when the Motormen entertain Eastwood Town Rivacre Park.
