NEW Brighton Blue Birds rugby team had cause to celebrate this week after two of its players were named in the north west regional representative squad.
Number Eight Sam Walker and flanker Emma Bolton have been called up following trials at Vale of Lune at the weekend.
The selection of 19-year-old Emma is a particular achievement, as the John Moores University student who has played at flanker, scrum-half and stand-off, only took up the game last year.
Sam Walker has been called up to the county team as well as the north west XV.
