WIRRAL classic car and motorcycle owners are being offered a chance to show off their pride and joy this summer.

Local people are being invited to enter vehicles in the 16th annual Classic Car Show at the Boat Museum in Ellesmere Port on Sunday, July 29.

The event attracts both individual car owners and classic clubs - but the organisers are now on the look out for new and first time competitors.

Competition categories cover cars built pre-1939, between 1940 and 60, from 1961 to 1975 and post 1976. The coveted Mossdale Cup will be awarded to the car still in regular use and judged to be in the best original order.

Organisers say classic motor cycle entries have also been growing steadily over recent years - and there is an award for the best bike in the show.

A seven-acre canal-side complex overlooking the river Mersey provides the spectacular backdrop to the event, with the museums collection of historic boats and dock building adding to the attractive setting.

There is a £5 entry fee, which includes admission to the museum for a vehicle and its passengers on competition day.

A few spaces are still available by contacting Liz Armes at The Boat Museum, South Pier Road, Ellesmere Port, CH65 4FW or calling her on 355-5017.
