VAUXHALL Motors write another chapter in their growing history this Saturday, when they they entertain Hyde United in the F.A. Cup at Rivacre Park - the first such tie in the Ellesmere Port area for more than 10 years.
Since Vauxhall left the West Cheshire League in 1995, the club has concentrated on league progress, gaining three promotions to become one of the most progressive in the country.
But now the Motormen, establishing themselves in their first season in the Unibond League Premier Division, have a great chance to progress at the expense of struggling Hyde United to the third qualifying round and gain an extremely useful purse into the bargain. The F.A. are awarding £7,500 to all second qualifying round winners, as part of the sponsorship of the competition by insurance giants Axa.
Last Saturday, the Motormen gained a hard fought point in a 1-1 draw at Hucknall Town.
Vauxhall's equaliser came when Stanhope headed in Carl Nesbitt's corner.
