THANKS to M. Parkinson (Readers' Mail, September 19) for mentioning the hidden treasure that was once Hamilton Square.
As I do not work in that area, the only time I got to see the gardens was while driving around the one-way system.
Now that pleasure is lost and as you are negotiating the traffic in Argyle Street you don't even realise that the gardens are there
I was under the impression that the reason for pedestrianising Hamilton Square was to make way for cafes and restaurants, not to create a ghost town!
And, while I'm at it, if the council have money to waste on a 'clown' in the hope of turning New Brighton into a resort, why don't they just ship in some palm trees and plant them along Harrison Drive?
This would surely give the effect of a beach resort.
Sunningdale Drive, Thingwall.
