PLAY scheme children have met British Transport Police officers to learn about railway safety as part of a £600,000 project at Bidston Moss.
The youngsters, from Leasowe Adventure Playground and Gautby Road Community Centre, met PC Chris Mellor and PC Jeanette O'Neill as part of the Bidston Bridges and Cycle Route project.
It involves the refurbishment of a bridge over the railway and construction of a new bridge to the Bidston Moss restoration scheme - linking the Wirral section of the national cycle route with Bidston Moss.
Groundwork Wirral is working with Onyx Environmental Trust, Wirral Council, Railtrack, Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority and Bullen Consultants on the bridges.
Doug Davis, of Onyx, says: "This is a great opportunity to carry out activities with children and reinforce the message about not playing on or near railway lines at the same time."
