HAS Mr Knight (Mailbox, December 11) forgotten the great firefighters who gave their lives to save others when terrorists struck the twin towers in New York?

Or all the other fire fighters in countries throughout the world who work in extreme conditions battling to save family homes and lives.

These people will say it's all in a day's work, not expecting our praise. The men and women who choose this job are remarkable people and do deserve all they can get.

To the families of such people, who do not know if their loved ones will return home each day, we thank you for them - we do not criticise what pension they are to recieve. How dare we?

Well done all the fire fighters and staff of the fire and emergency services throughout the world. I have to go now as we here in Perth are in threat once again as the bush behind my home is on fire.

We certainly hope our fire fighters get a good pension, as they put their lives at risk each day for us! We appreciate all they do.

Hope the message is clear to Mr Knight.
