I WAS appalled to read the article (Globe, December 30) that a proposal is to be put before the Environmental Committee to close down public toilets in Wirral.
As Cllr Dennis Knowles remarked: "I was reluctant, at first, to see any toilets closed as they provide a vital public service." He is right. They do provide a 'very vital' public service, especially to my members and other members of the public who suffer from any form of bowel or urological problem.
The manager of Safeway, West Kirby, would be quite rightly concerned about the influx of people using the store's toilet facilities. But there are no superstores near the seafront at New Brighton!
