WHAT an amazing statement by Wirral Council Labour leader Stephen Foulkes concerning public toilets. "I've looked at some of them and, quite frankly, you would not even let your dog use them," he is quoted as saying.

Whose fault is that, Cllr Foulkes? You are in authority to, among other things, make sure toilets are clean and tidy and vandalism is prevented by better security measures. That is what we pay ever rising council tax to go towards and a minor portion should be used for just that.

It is an easy way out to suggest shutting the toilets, leaving the long suffering public who are caught short to 'labour' with the dogs by performing in the street, public parks or on the seashore.

What on earth is going on? We are not living in the dark ages, Cllr Foulkes. This is modern day Britain and if you cannot think of something better than shutting down public toilets to save money, you should hand over to someone else who can.

Wirral has been run down and down over many years through rank bad management and use of public money, which has been diverted down wrong avenues.

Roll on the next election. You might be caught with your pants down with nowhere to run!
