RESIDENTS of Heswall have been complaining about the refurbishment of the town's bus station.
Merseytravel closed the station in December so that 'much needed' refurbishment could take place. However, some residents say that the station was better as it was before.
Heswall Councillor, Peter Johnson, said: "It's ridiculous. The main concern people have expressed to me is that they have moved the clock, so that you can't see it from anywhere in the town. Instead, they have put up a big Merseytravel sign where the clock used to be.
"They've also painted the whole station grey and yellow - the corporate colours of Merseytravel - so now it looks like a fairground."
The total cost of the refurbishment was £60,000. The new Merseytravel sign alone cost £5,000.
A spokesman for Merseytravel said: "No work had been done on the station for 11 years and it needed updating. As well as the corporate colours and signage, we have made the station more accessible to disabled people by introducing access kerbs and we have introduced digital CCTV."
