WIRRAL were out of sorts at Widnes, on Saturday, as they crashed to an 8-49 reverse in South Lancashire/Cheshire One League.
Colin Davies scored a try and Ian White a penalty, but the Wirral defence was breached on eight occasions.
Oldershaw are in trouble at the wrong end of the table after a 6-27 defeat at Birchfield. Mike Chapman kicked two penalties, but the home side, with four tries, won well.
Anselmians triumphed 25-10 at Moore to stay top of Division Two. Paul Kelly touched down twice. There was also a try for Peter Lewis, with Gareth Williams hitting two conversions and a brace of penalties.
Hoylake enjoyed a 27-16 derby win at Ellesmere Port. Dave Shields grabbed a couple of tries, with singles for Gareth Williams and Neil Parsley. Simon Robinson converted once and also landed two penalties.
Wallasey, in Division Three, just failed 15-17 at Collegiate. Colin McLean and Mark Trevitt crossed and Dave Lloyd managed one conversion and a penalty.
Port Sunlight, in Division Four, were on the right side of a 16-15 score at Sale Amateurs. Matt Metcalf and Darren White crossed and Neil Harris hit a brace of penalties.
Parkonians went down 10-13 at Holmes Chapel, where Mike Smith and Chris Stott gained unconverted tries.
This Saturday could see some re-arranged league games. Wallasey certainly play at home to Newton-le-Willows. Friendlies currently planned include Anselmians v Wirral and Port Sunlight v Hoylake.
