RADIO City presenter Pete Price is calling on Globe readers to buy a wristband and support Claire House's latest campaign.

Pete popped into Claire House last week to launch the trendy new 'Smile - it's a new day' wristbands.

The blue bands are available in Claire House Shops across the Northwest or the Appeals Office at Clatterbridge. They cost £1 and are available from the appeals office on 343 0883.

Pete, a dedicated supported of the hospice and a patron of the Teenage Wing Appeal, said: "These bands look great. I'm going to wear one myself. Why not join me and at the same time you will be supporting the wonderful work of Claire House."

Meanwhile, tickets are now available for a gala comedy dinner in aid of the appeal. Comedians Willie Miller and Greg Cooke will provide the laughs during the fundraiser at the Holiday Inn in Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port, on April 28. There will also be music from live band 'Spy Candy.'

The event has been organised by 26-year-old New Ferry-based book-keeper Lorna Buckle as part of a fundraising drive to raise £3,000 to walk the Great Wall of China in aid of the appeal. Lorna said: "It's a really worthwhile cause. The hospice is caring for children many of whom will not get the chance to enjoy life."

The 'Sparkling Star' appeal needs to raise £2m for a new wing to provide care to teenage patients. Tickets are available from Lorna on 201 1175.

So far, the 'Sparkling Star' appeal fundraising total is just under £1.6m.

Staff from Mark's and Spencer's Chester branch have raised £20,000, which will be used to build the wing's kitchen. During the Easter break thousands of people turned out to visit Eaton Hall in Chester Garden for the first of its Open Days, swelling the appeal's coffers by £1903.50. Among those doing their bit to help were staff and customers at the Armchair public house in Moreton, who have raised £2,471.
