WOMEN were able to get specialised advice at an information day in Birkenhead organised by Wirral Community Safety Team.
Several organisations met at the St James Centre, Laird Street, last week to ensure women were aware of the support available to them.
Beauty and holistic therapists attracted women to the centre while agencies such as Sure Start, Wirral Metropolitan College, and Action For Jobs provided information on employment, education, childcare and health.
Wirral Community Safety Team's Amy Luxton said: "This is the third women's day event we have organised. The first ones in Seacombe and Tranmere were very successful.
"The feedback was really good with the women loving the pampering but also getting information about services they didn't know existed.
"We found that the women knew about the main agencies but didn't know how to access information or services from other organisations.
"At the Bidston event we also organised face-painting to keep the children entertained."
In addition to welfare advice, information on crime prevention and domestic violence was available aiming to make women safer, and feel safer in their own homes.
