TWO teenagers escaped unharmed after rubbish caught fire outside their first floor flat in Moreton.

The fire spread into the the former Three Counties car showroom on the ground floor, causing smoke damage.

The incident happened at around 6.30pm last night.

Three fire crews spent two hours at the scene, where they led the the boys, aged 15 and 18, down a ladder from the flat.

Smoke alarms were fitted at the property.

A MAN was taken to hospital this morning after his car collided with a motorway crash barrier.

One fire crew was called to the scene at Junction 3 of the M53 just after 7am this morning.

The man, aged around 35, suffered chest and abdomen injuries due to the vehicle's airbag.

He was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment.

A TODDLER was taken to hospital to be checked over after a fire at her home.

Two fire crews attended the scene on North Road, Birkenhead after a toaster had caught fire.

The incident happened last night at around 10.15pm.

The two-year-old girl was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital as a precautionary measure.
