Peter Leonard Cobley, 61, of Beverley Gardens, Thingwall, was sent for Crown Court trial by District Judge Michael Abelson at Wirral Magistrates Court.

There are 14 allegations of making indecent photographs of children ranging from categories one to four on dates between 2004 and 2007.

And there is one other matter of making 3,380 category-one, 355 category-two, 914 category-three, 1,770 category-four and 81 category-five indecent images of children between September 2003 and August 2007, at Beverley Gardens.

He was bailed to appear at the higher court on February 11.

The categories legally define the level of indecency involved and are used as a guideline for any subsequent sentence set by a judge should a defendant be found to be guilty.

Images are categorised into five levels of seriousness, with level five being the most serious.
