DRUNK: A row with his ladyfriend proved costly for a young Birkenhead man.

Gary William Ashby, 22, of Corfu Street, admitted being drunk and disorderly when he faced Wirral Magistrates. He was fined £65 and also had to pay £100 costs.

Prosecutor Alan Currums said Ashby was shouting and swearing in the street at Birkenhead and he was arrested after he failed to heed a warning to behave.

Laura Flynn for Ashby said he had been rowing with his girl friend.

The police spoke to him in a less than polite way and he responded in the wrong way.

ASSAULT: Wirral Magistrates bailed a teenager until March 22 for evidence to be called.

Craig Philip Brammall, 19, of Renfrew Close, Eastham denied assaulting PC Stephen Marshall in the execution of his duty at Duncansby Drive in Wirral in early December.

CANNABIS:Wirral Magistrates told a Thingwall resident he was very lucky not to be going to prison.

Lee Alan Calveley, 30, of Torrington Gardens, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of cannabis three days before Christmas.

He was said to be subject to a suspended prison sentence for a dissimilar matter.

The magistrates did not activate the sentence but ordered Calveley to serve 20 hours of unpaid work and fined him £65 plus £100 costs.

BAN: A motorist spoken to by the police at 1.50am declined to provide a roadside breath test and later at the police custody suite again refused to co-operate, Wirral Magistrates heard.

Joseph Michael Mulhare, 34, of Bedford Avenue, Rock Ferry, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis under the Road Traffic Act.

He is facing a three year ban because he has a previous drinking driving conviction.

Magistrates bailed Mulhare for a probation report with a view to a community penalty and imposed an interim disqualification.

DRUGS: Cannabis plants and cannabis bush were found when police executed a search warrant at a Moreton address, prosecutor Alan Currums told Wirral Magistrates.

John Mark Holland, 20, and Christopher John Power, 22, both of Furze Way, Moreton, appeared in the dock.

Both admitted unlawful possession of cannabis and Holland additionally cultivating cannabis.

Holland was fined £165 and Power £65 and both accused had to pay £100 costs each.

The cannabis seized was forfeited.

DAMAGED CAR: A 29-year-old man kicked and dented the car door of a ladyfriend when she went to return items to him after they broke up, Wirral Magistrates were told.

Craig Christopher Painter of Gabriel Close, Moreton, admitted causing damage to a vehicle owned by Carla Ruhe at Rodney Street in Tranmere.

Painter said he was not normally violent and apologised.

He was upset at the time because of the break up.

He had since spoken to the complainant and they were on amicable terms again.

Painter was fined £65 and had to pay £100 towards compensation and £80 costs.

HEROIN A wrap of heroin was seen on a coffee table when police visited a Birkenhead address.

John Michael Pablo, 47, of Vittoria Court, Birkenhead, admitted unlawful possession of the Class A drug when he faced Wirral Magistrates.

It cost him a £100 fine and he had to pay £100 costs.

ABUSIVE: A Prenton man who was abusive and threatening towards the police felt he was being picked on, defence solicitor Laura Flynn told Wirral Magistrates.

Carl Arthur Simmons, 27, of Francis Avenue, Prenton, pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress in the Birkenhead town centre just ahead of Christmas.

He was fined £65 and also had to pay £100 costs.

FRAUD ALLEGATIONS: A Hoylake couple appeared before Wirral Magistrates on fraud allegations.

Summary trial was declined and Nicholas Charles Swann, 41, and Heidi Maria O’Neil, 36, both of Lake Road, were bailed until March 16 for committal proceedings.

There are six charges against them alleging fraud in that whilst occupying positions as sales and marketing executives at Lexicraft Limited at Woodside Business Park in Birkenhead, where they were expected to safeguard the interests of Lexicraft, they abused their position, intending to make gain in the form of lucrative business contracts on various dates in 2008.

DISQUALIFIED: A night out with friends at Hoylake ended badly for a dock worker.

Ian Taylor Wilson, 29, of Whaley Lane, Irby, was detained for drink driving and as a result faced Wirral Magistrates.

He admitted driving when over the alcohol limit in Column Road, West Kirby shortly before Christmas.

He blew a reading of 64 microgrammes of alcohol.

Simon Simons, defending, said Wilson’s job could be at risk because of the driving ban he would collect. He had not previously been in trouble.

Wilson was fined £400 plus £80 costs.

He was disqualified from driving for eighteen months but was offered a probation course which if completed will reduce the ban by a quarter.
