AN IRBY restaurant is celebrating after making it into the pages of the prestigious Michelin Guide.

The family run Da Piero restaurant is one of just two Wirral restaurants and a guest house referred to in this year's guide.

Da Piero is run by Dawn and Piero DiBella and their 17-year-old son Alan, who is currently studying catering at college in Conway Park.

The Michelin inclusion comes shortly after the restaurant - which has only been open four years - was also highly commended in the Good Food Guide 2010.

Dawn DiBella told the Globe: "We are absolutely delighted.

"To have been awarded The Best New Entry in The Good Food Guide 2010 was fabulous, beating strong competition from the whole of the UK.

"We were chosen by the editor of this prestigious guide, which has been published since 1951.

"We also scored the second highest mark in the whole of Merseyside which is an outstanding achievement and recognition of our passion and dedication.

"The inclusion in the Michelin Guide 2010 is another fabulous result for us.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our diners for their continued support."

Fraiche restaurant in Oxton, which has one Michelin star, is the other establishment listed in the guide, along with Peel Hey Guest house in Frankby.
