TRANSPORT for people using Wirral's adult social services - suspended because of the big freeze this week - will make a gradual return on Monday.

A spokeswoman said the authority anticipated a limited transport service returning next week but added that people will be contacted directly when their service becomes available.

"Most adult social services continue as usual, but we’re asking for all Wirral residents to look out for any neighbours they may think may be particularly vulnerable, and if they can’t do something themselves - as a lot of people are doing - to contact us," she added.

The number to ring is 0151 606 2006, or you can email cadt@wirral.gov.uk.

There is also an emergency duty team number that can be used outside normal office hours and at the weekend – 0151 677 6557. If there is a rise in requests for support over the weekend, additional support will be available to meet it.

Some volunteer and community agencies are also able to help with the everyday tasks that are made impossible for some due to the continuing bad weather.

The council is also reminding older people that Winter Warmth Payments are available – so don’t be worried about keeping warm.
