SIX students from Park High School in Birkenhead have attended a youth voice conference.
Organised by Wirral’s Executive Youth Board and opened by the mayor, Cllr Andrew Hodson, the conference at Wallasey Town Hall focused on perceptions of young People.
Students took part in a series of workshops on a range of subjects which included cultural diversity, mental health, places to go, drugs and things to do in the local area.
Another workshop involved 'Intergenerational Understanding', with students considered the views of the elderly on young people.
In the afternoon they took part in ‘hot seating’, which involved them interviewing some key local figures.
Steve Maddox, chief executive of Wirral Council answered lots of questions raised.
Councillor Bob Moon, Wirral's cabinet member for Culture, Tourism & Sport was questioned about areas of tourism and raising the profile of the local area.
Park High student Serena Meacock said: "I really enjoyed the debate I had with the Mayor. I had fun expressing my opinions at the same time as having my questions answered".
Fellow pupil Nicole Monty said: "It was good to consider how different groups of people view each other. I really enjoyed the Cultural Diversity Workshop".
