CUNARD’S mammoth flag ship the Queen Mary 2 arrived in the River Mersey this morning - all 148,528 gross tons of her.
Towering more than 200ft above the waterline, the transatlantic liner is visiting Liverpool for a day and night of celebrations to mark her fifth anniversary.
Hundreds of people have lined both sides of the river as the huge ship - 1,232ft in length - sailed past the Formby foreshore to dock at Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal.
Firework displays are set to take place this evening and two special concerts by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra onboard, commemorate the occasion.
