Three people have been injured in a two-vehicle collision on the M53 motorway near Ellesmere Port.
Emergency teams were called out to the collision, which left one vehicle overturned, on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 10 (A5117/Little Stanney) and 11 (M56 Interchange).
Three fire engines from Ellesmere Port, Powey Lane and Chester were deployed to the incident, which was reported to emergency crews at 8.11 on Wednesday, April 17.
Three casualties were assessed by the crews before being handed into the care of the ambulance service and taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
The crews made the scene safe using small tools and collision equipment. They were at the scene for around one hour and 25 minutes.
Long delays built up with traffic congestion reportedly peaking at about five miles of tailbacks to Junction 5 (Eastham).
National Highways: North West added there remained a lane 1 closure on that section of the motorway due to damage to a bridge and barrier damage.
However, there were no ongoing significant delays or congestion.
