A family festival including a live music stage, dance music arena and a kid's stage will take place at Tranmere Rovers' Prenton Park ground next month.

The Wirral Family Festival, on Saturday, May 11 from 12pm-11pm, will feature a live music stage on the pitch with tribute bands covering genres such as rock, pop, indie, ska and reggae. There will also be a dance music arena including well-known local house music DJs.

The kids' stage promises superhero shows, princess shows, dinosaurs, pony rides, inflatables, zorbing, magic shows, dance shows, talent shows, costume groups including Disney, Star Wars and Transformers characters.

There will also be face painting, glitter tattoos, stilt walkers, magicians, pirate shows, toy stalls and a giant funfair packed with rides.

Night at musicals

WEST Kirby Musical Theatre Company's next show, Another Night at the Musicals, will be staged later this month.

It will be at Westbourne Community Centre in West Kirby on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at 7.30pm and Sunday, April 21 at 2.30pm.

Play recorder

WIRRAL Recorder Orchestra is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an appeal for more members.

Join the bands

WIRRAL Pop Orchestra is looking for new members. Its repertoire includes pop, cinema and musical theatre. It rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 to 10pm at St Anne’s Parish Centre on Highfield Road in Rock Ferry. There is currently no audition.

Race for Life

ENTRIES are now being taken for this year’s Wirral Race For Life events in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Taking place in Birkenhead Park on Sunday, May 19, it is open to people of all ages and abilities where mums, dads, sons, daughters, grandparents and friends can choose from 3k and 5k events.
