A WIRRAL supermarket is set to close for three months.

Aldi on Hoylake Road in Moreton will close for refurbishment from 8pm on Friday, March 29.

The store will reopen at 8am on Thursday, July 11.

Once the store closes, the nearest Aldi stores will be Bidston Moss Retail Park in Wallasey, Birkenhead, Prenton, and West Kirby.

The news of the refurbishment comes after the supermarket giant submitted a planning application to Wirral Council in 2021 applying for an extension and reconfiguration of the existing store.

The plans will see a new, larger food store designed to improve customer experience and provide more space internally allowing for wider aisles and an improved layout.

It will include extra space for fresh fruit and vegetables at the front of the store, as well as chilled and food-to-go ranges.

The proposals will also extend the car park to increase the provision from 86 spaces to 118 spaces.

A spokesperson for Aldi told the Globe: β€œIn order to provide an improved shopping experience for Moreton customers, the Aldi store on Hoylake Road will close on 29th March to undergo an exciting refurbishment. As a result, we will be re-opening our new and improved Aldi store in July.”
