A WIRRAL primary school was forced to close due to an “emergency” on Wednesday morning (March 6).
Mount Primary School on Mount Pleasant Road in New Brighton sent email alerts to parents informing them that the school was shut.
The message read: “Dear families, School is closed due to an emergency. We will send out further information as soon as possible. Best wishes, Mount Primary School."
A further update from the school said: "Dear families, Thank you for being so understanding this morning. We had a big leak in school and we had to turn the water and power off.
"We are hoping to get things back up and running as soon as possible but we are having to wait until we are told it's safe to reopen school to pupils. We will update you as soon as we have more information."
A spokesperson for Wirral Council has since confirmed to the Globe that the school was forced to shut due to a “leaky boiler”. The school was forced to shut off power and water for a time and reopened again in the afternoon.
