STUDENTS from a college in Wirral are working with Sound City to host the annual Wirral Music Careers Day.

As National Careers Week approaches, Wirral Met College is gearing up to provide its students with an inspiring and informative experience aimed at helping them explore their future career pathways

National Careers Week, a one-week celebration of careers guidance and resources in education across the UK, is set to kick off on Monday, March 4 2024. The nationwide initiative aims to provide students with a focal point for careers guidance activities, fostering awareness and excitement about their potential future endeavours.

Gill Banks, Principal and CEO of Wirral Met College said: “By giving our students the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals, they can see first-hand the possibilities that are available to them and begin laying the groundwork for their future success.”

During the week Wirral Met College are also working in partnership with Sound City to host the annual Wirral Music Careers Day at their Twelve Quays Campus.

The event is open to students aged 14-16 from Wirral schools and aims to give students an insight into a varied range of topics within the music industry via a series of guest talks, a careers fair and fun workshops.

Jen Kickhefer, Artist Training & Development Programme Lead said: Wirral Music Careers Day is a great initiative created by MMEHA and Sound City to showcase career opportunities within the music industry to younger education at a time where choosing a career becomes a pivotal moment in their education.

“There's more to the music industry than being a musician.”

Professionals will be delivering guest lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions throughout the week, offering insights into various career fields and industries.

Among the esteemed employers and organisations participating in Wirral Met College's National Careers Week activities are Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Burnley FC, Halfords, Ryanair and Stiebel Eltron. With representatives from diverse sectors, students will have the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about potential career paths and the skills required to succeed in their chosen fields.
