MEET Ava, our dog of the week who needs your help to the forever home she can call her own.

The seven-year-old German Shepherd has been looked after by the team at Dogs Trust Merseyside since November.

She is described as 'a great girl who really enjoys spending time with people'. She loves to be out of her kennel and on walks, but the Dogs Trust team has noticed that she tries to run alongside traffic, so she'll need to be walked on quiet roads.

Ava is said to have been great with all her handling and really seems to enjoy the interaction with people.

She loves to be fussed over and is very affectionate in return. She doesn't seem to have had much experience with other dogs, and although she is happy with them being a short distance away, she will bark if they come too close for her comfort.

Ava is looking for a home where she is the only pet, but she can live with children of secondary school age.

She sadly has some ongoing medical issues regarding her mobility therefore for anyone who applies needs to take this into consideration.

Georgina Lowery, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: "Ava is a very sweet, super affectionate girl.

"She loves people and prefers to interact with her carers than playing with her toys. We’d love to find her a family to call her own who she can bond with and enjoy their company.

"She does tend to try and chase cars on her walks, so we’re looking for a home in a low traffic area.

"She would need to be the only pet in her new home, but could live with secondary school aged children."
