CLATTERBRIDGE Cancer Centre's lifesaving work has been boosted by an 'incredible donation' from members of a support group for people living with the disease.

Wirral Breast Cancer Support Group raised £610.00 in support of Breast Cancer Services at Clatterbridge.

The group formed in 2008 and has been fundraising to support local women and men with breast cancer.

This year, they are disbanding and have generously used some of their remaining funds to purchase ‘Dear Mum’ and ‘Dear Dad’ diaries for people with metastatic breast cancer, which will allow key memories and information to be recorded for patients’ families to cherish in future years.

The books were purchased from Linghams Heswall at a cost of £972.

Metastatic Breast Cancer CNS, Heather Stevens, the Group’s Secretary, Anne Rowlands, and the group's chair, Judi Glass, recently visited the centre to celebrate their generous donation.

Heather said: "We’re so grateful to Judi, Anne and all the members of the Wirral Breast Cancer Support Group for their generous contribution of books and their donation to the charity – the diaries are already proving invaluable to patients and the donation will continue to help people with breast cancer in our area."
