AN eight-month-old kitten with a broken tail was dumped by her owners in Wirral.

At the beginning of January, Ottlie was "callously" dumped at the gates outside RSPCA Wirral.

She had a "look of terror" but after care from the charity, she is now "happy and content".

Ottlie was sent straight to the vet where she was treated and brought back to the centre for lots of "TLC".

She has recovered very well and is the "sweetest little cat you will ever meet".

As Ottlie was chipped, inspectors have managed to track down her owners and RSPCA has confirmed they are "dealing with them".

Ottlie will be ready for re-homing next week once she has had a re-check on her tail and been spayed.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: “Incidents like this are extremely upsetting for staff at our centres to have to deal with. Every abandonment tells a different story, but the cost of living crisis is clearly having an impact.

"Sadly, with more owners feeling the pinch, we've seen many resorting to desperate measures - like leaving animals who perhaps become ill or they can no longer afford or don’t want anymore, and we’d urge anyone who is struggling to look after their pets, at what is a very difficult economic time for many people, to seek advice and support."

A dedicated cost-of-living telephone helpline (0300 123 0650) has been opened by the charity and pet owners are being urged to seek help if required.

You can visit the RSPCA's website if you are interested in offering her a home.
