MEET our dog of the week, beautiful Tara, who can’t wait to be at the heart of a family.

The nine-year-old German Shepherd, currently a resident at Dogs Trust Merseyside's rehoming centre is described by its staff as "a very friendly girl who loves to be made a fuss of and can live with children aged eight and over'.

She has found herself at Dogs Trust Merseyside through no fault of her own and the team says she loves heading out on walks but as an older lady is always eager to snuggle up on her bed once she’s been out.

Georgina Lowery, manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said:  "Tara is a lovely girl and we are surprised she hasn’t found her special someone yet.

"She loves to be with people so would like to not be left home alone a lot, particularly whilst she is settling in, but we are confident she will find her paws quickly in her new home."

Tara can become anxious around dogs, especially if they are too over-the-top or approach her unexpectedly, but she can walk with calm canine companions.

The team have been working with her to help her grow in confidence around four-legged friends and her new family would benefit from continuing this with the help of the team at the centre.
