A NEW community garden has opened in Neston.

The outdoor 'Jubilee Community Garden' has been created by Parkgate and Neston United Reformed Church.

It was opened by Revd Geoff Felton on Sunday, April 2.

He said: "It was my honour to spend Palm Sunday at Parkgate and Neston URC.

"I led worship, thanked three retired ministers who are now stepping down and opened the Community Jubilee Garden with the Mayor of Neston, Pat Kynaston and local Councillor Martin Barker. How wonderful to create this outdoor space for all to enjoy.

"I’m sure it will be a place of calm and peace, somewhere to go to sit and reflect."

The garden is situated behind the Community Hall at Parkgate and Neston United Reformed Church, off Parkgate Road.

It provides a place of rest all year round to be enjoyed by the community. It was inspired by the 70-year Jubilee of the late Queen Elizabeth ll and the 50-year Jubilee of The United Reformed Church.

The project was funded by grants from Evans Trust, Neston Town Council, Shop4Neston, CWAC councillors budgets award scheme, Neston Civic Society, Neston Flower Society and donations from individual church members.

Cllr Martin Baker, Member for Parkgate Ward, said: "I am absolutely delighted that this communal garden has been delivered with the help of some funding from Cheshire West and the Town Council.

"This is a wonderfully designed garden and I hope as many residents as possible take some time to go and visit in the peace and tranquillity of this space."
