SOME of Wirral's best-loved clubs of yesteryear are to be commemorated as part of a new line of nostalgic fashion T-shirts.

The Chelsea Reach and Guinea Gap were the places to be seen in the 1970s and '80s, and now, the publishing house behind a book looking back a time of a New Brighton beauty queens, nights in Leighton Court and the many clubs in Birkenhead’s lively scene has put out a range of commemorative unisex T-shirts, in a choice of colours and sizes.

The Dirty Stop Outs' Guide to 1970’s Liverpool, written by Wirral author Jade Wright, looked back at tripping the light fantastic at the Chelsea Reach, or drinking Pernod and black at Rupert’s.

Jade said: "When we first launched the book, there were a lot of requests for T-shirts.

"I think there was a lot of nostalgia for the brilliant venues of the past. People had such a fondness for them, and the launch events we did brought groups of people together who hadn’t seen each other in years.

"But then the pandemic struck, and the dirty stop outs became dirty stop ins.

"Now, at last, it’s chance to get out and let our hair down again, and the publishers of the book have put together this range of T-shirts, so you can wear your favourite venue of the past for all to see."

Ahead of Mother's Day, there’s also a chance to buy a T-shirt and book bundle, for the coolest mums.

As well as the iconic Wirral waterfront venue, there are also designs for regulars at the Grafton, The Coconut Grove, Ugly's Wispa, The Other Place, The She Club, Tiffany’s, Romeo and Juliets and lots more.
