A WIRRAL-based outdoor activity group got into the Halloween spirit this weekend by dressing up as witches and warlocks during a paddle boarding session in West Kirby.
Around 10 members from the Go Wild! Wirral group joined together on Sunday, October 30 dressed in witches’ hats, cloaks, and masks as they sailed across West Kirby Marine Lake on paddle boards and kayaks.
Group member, Sophie Edwards who goes by the username @sophieedwards198 on TikTok, posted a video that shows the group of friends floating along the lake with capes billowing in the wind.
She told the Globe: “A few weeks ago in a paddle boarding group a post was shared about a Colorado event where people would go kayaking and paddle boarding dressed as witches and warlocks, so we decided to hold a similar event.
“It got off to a great start with about 85 people either going or interested in the event but sadly, the weather conditions put a few people off which I can't blame them, it was very windy and cold.”
Since the success of the meet-up, Sophie said the group is hoping to make it an annual event for the Halloween period.
She said: “We all had an absolute blast. We are hoping to make it an annual thing.
"Leanne, one of our group members who came along said to me, 'life is for living. You might not want to paddle in a witch outfit on a windy day, but whatever you do want to do, go do it' and I completely agree.”
