A WIRRAL cancer centre has been given a massive boost by the world's largest money broker.

Wirral Holistic Cancer Care will receive £80,000 from brokerage company ICAP.

WHCC patron Esther McVey, who has worked for the last three years to get donations, said: "I'm delighted to have secured WHCC such a substantial donation so enabling the charity to build a much needed quiet room for patients and family.

"The charity does so much for so many. Set up initially to help cancer patients on Wirral by Dorothy Crowther it now helps people right across the world. The charity is unique and run by wonderful caring people."

WHCC was one of only 18 charities from across the country to benefit from a very unique fundraising event - the ICAP Charity Day, which was attended by Prince Andrew and the English rugby team.

The event was the idea of ICAP founder and chief executive Michael Spencer a business colleague and friend of Esther McVey.

He decided with the help of all this staff he would donate a days profit per year to charity.

Last year ICAP donated £7.1m to charity.
