A SINGING group aimed at people living with chronic illness has begun across Wirral.

Happy Harmonies, led by singer Bexi Owen, will be beneficial to those who live with dementia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and Parkinson's disease.

Bexi also runs a series of music memory cafes for people living with dementia.

She told the Globe: "I know how much good singing can do for us, even if it's just to lift our mood.

"It's great for lung conditions as we will do some breathing exercises and also good for reminiscence as most of the songs will be classic ones that we all love."

Happy Memories has been made possible after a cash boost from the Sparks Fund and Involve Northwest.

It will take place on Monday, September 24 from 1pm at Carrbridge Centre, Woodchurch.

Bexi added: "I'm so grateful for the support of Involve Northwest and in particular the community connectors team who have championed this group since I came up with the idea."

The singing session will cost £3 and includes refreshments.

Any carers go free when accompanying someone to Happy Memories.

Bexi will also be starting groups at Puddington Gift Cafe on Tuesday, September 25 and Hope Place Cafe in Prenton on October 22.
