A JOINT initiative to crackdown on illegal scrambler bikes has been rolled out across Wirral.
Wirral Council has joined forces with Merseyside Police to roll out Operation Brookdale which will work with communities which are suffering from the illegal and anti-social use of scrambler bikes, quad bikes and off-road vehicles.
Earlier this year officers hosted an awareness event to highlight the response in targeting illegal and anti-social use of off-road bikes in Merseyside.
During the event, a large number of bikes were crushed at a salvage and recycling site outside of Merseyside and officers carried out demonstrations to show the dangers, noise and nuisance that off-road bikes cause, as well as explaining what measures police and partners carry out to reunite stolen bikes with their owners, and to target the issue on a daily basis.
In 2017, the force seized more than 300 off-road bikes many of which were stolen.
Anyone with information on where off-road bikes are being stored or who is storing and using them can message Merseyside Police on Twitter @MerpolCC - or call the police non-emergency number 101.
Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
