Phoenix Shooters Association are building the first new target shooting range in the Wirral Area for over fifty years.
The Wirral once had many shooting ranges, but over the years many of them have been closed, and the last to open was the well known Grange Rifle & Pistol club in West Kirby, but that opened over fifty years ago.
The range will be named after Geoffrey Place, the ex-president of the Preparatory School Rifle Association, who did so much to keep the sport going during the dark years after the 1997 Firearm (Amendment) Act which did so much damage.
Phoenix Shooters Association are working like demons to get the range open as soon as they can, but there is much to do yet.
We will announce the date and place of the opening here once the job is finally completed.
