BRITAIN'S Got Talent finalists MerseyGirls have released their first charity single.

Formerly known as Just Us, the all-girl dance group shot to fame after receiving Alesha Dixon's Golden Buzzer in the audition process of last year's competition.

Made up of best friends Alice, Poppy, Julia, Annie and Rebecca the group now want to raise cash for Shriners Hospitals for Children with their debut charity single ‘When We Dance Again’, which was released on May 1.

Shriners Hospitals for Children have centres across the US and provide life-changing operations who may not be able to afford treatment.

The dance group first entered Britain’s Got Talent to highlight spinal scoliosis – a condition which leading member Julia suffers with.

By entering the competition, the girls vowed that if they won they would use the prize fund for life-changing spinal surgery for Julia.

Without the operation, only available abroad, Julia would be unable to continue dancing.

However, head judge Simon Cowell said that he would pay for the £78,000 surgery no matter where the girls ended up in the competition.

True to his word, Julia travelled to the USA for the operation last July and has since returned to the stage to perform.

‘When We Dance Again’ was written for the group by local songwriter Paul Holden who was inspired by the group’s friendship and Julia’s story and wrote the emotional track to show the inspirational journey the girls have been on since Britain’s Got Talent.

A spokeswoman for MerseyGirls said: “The girls really want to pay it forward and have decided that any profits that they make from the song will be given to charity.

“The girls are heavily focused on writing more music and are already in the studio recording follow up songs while they also have a number of shows lined up for the summer of 2018.”
