RAIL services from Liverpool Lime Street will start and terminate at Liverpool South Parkway on Sunday as part of upgrade works.

Before phase two of Liverpool Lime Street’s major upgrade in June, Network Rail will be completing vital works on Sunday, April 8 to upgrade platforms.

Sunday's work will see platform 6 come back into use and platform 4 taken out of use.

Network Rail say this will allow their engineers to keep upgrading the station while it is open.

Mainline services to and from destinations including Manchester, London, Nottingham and Birmingham will start and terminate at Liverpool South Parkway.

Passengers are being advised to use the Merseyrail network to transfer to South Parkway.

Journeys via Huyton (from Manchester Victoria, Preston, Wigan and St Helens) will travel as far as Huyton station where passengers can transfer onto a regular rail replacement bus service between Liverpool Lime Street and Huyton.

Routes via Warrington stations will start and terminate at Hunts Cross with rail replacement buses in operation.
