FOUR men have been arrested after a police chase ended with a crash in the Birkenhead Tunnel this afternoon.
Merseyside Police officers pursued a stolen Ford Fiesta from the Upton area towards Birkenhead, where it crashed into the tunnel wall.
No injuried were reported, but one man was arrested at the scene and a further three were detained following brief foot chases.
All four have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, and dangerous driving.
The tunnel remains closed with diversions via Wallasey Tunnel, although it is expected to reopen soon.
